Welcome to the Eastwood United Methodist Church website!

Caruthersville is a great place to be and Eastwood Memorial is a great church to attend.

Take some time and browse the site.  Our goal is to be an "outwardly focused" church, taking the love of Christ beyond the walls of the building. In addition to bringing others to Christ, we want to make a positive difference in our community.

We have a casual service at 8:30 and a traditional service at 10:30. Sunday school is every Sunday at 9:30.  We offer a chance to grow in many ways. We have activities throughout the week, small groups, Bible studies, and a loving, caring church family.

Look around the site. If you want to find a place to belong, a place where you can make a difference, an opportunity to impact others,
and a way to influence your community, join us at Eastwood memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville, Missouri.

God Bless,

Rev. Jerry Mattson, Pastor

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School Director Melissa Hill is sharing plans for our "Polar Blast" theme which is filled with so many powerful ways for the children to grasp that "Jesus will always love you" and that we can trust in His unfailing love, just as Psalm 13:5 tells us. VBS will be four nights.  Three nights of Bible stories, games, crafts, and music. The fourth night will be a closing program and cook-out for the children and their familiesk as well as the church family. The kids will sing the five songs they have learned along with the Bible Verse and Bible Point. We will have a slide show that shares all the children have learned and experienced throughout the week.

We are considering June 25 through June 28 or July 9 through July 12. We would love to hear from you if one of these weeks works best for you!  We need all kinds of volunteers. We need leaders for music and more, games/snacks, crafts, Bible time as well as crew leaders. We need at least four crew leaders, someone to register the kids each night and make name tags. There are so many areas to choose from.

Items to Save for VBS

There are a few items listed below that we need to begin collecting for Vacation Bible School. You can drop them off in the Children's Building.

Boxes
Milk jugs (rinsed out please)
White sheets or fabric (old is fine)
Blue sheets (light or dark, old is find)
Vegetable cans (if opened with a smooth edge can opener, rinsed  please)
Newspapers

One special request is that you pray over the next few months. Pray for the children of the church and the community that will attend VBS, pray for their parents, for everyone that will be reached through this VBS. Pray for those who will volunteer and ask God to guide and encourage each of us as we near VBS week.

Vacation Bible School Pre-School Program

The pre-schoolers have their own special program for Bible time, games, and crafts. It is truly a powerful and fun program for the little ones. If you have a passioon for this area, please let us know, we would love to have you lead our Penquin Preschool.

Nursing Home Service

On the second Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Jerry does a Communion Service for the residents of the Southgate Living Center at 500 Truman Blvd. We have several members that are in the nursing home and they enjoy the service. Everyone is welcome to come to the service and assist Pastor Jerry with the service.  All help will be greatly appreciated and everyone will enjoy seeing you!

Men's Prayer Breakfast

Every Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. there is a Men's Prayer Breakfast at Dorroh Hall. There are currently around 5 men attending from different churches. This is for anyone from any church so please join the group if you are interested and have the time.
